Langkawi Island is the one of the best places in malaysia. You can either take a bus to kual perils and catch the ferry to langkawi or you can fly directly to langkawi through Air Asia. You will love the price tag of the ticket. it is unbelievably cheap and affordable.
We have been to langkawi more than twice and even planning to go again. You will surely get addicted to this little piece of heaven. The beaches and the cheap hotels are perfect for backpackers.

yeah you could also rent a motorbike for 30rm and roam around the island for exploration.
